Guidelines & Policies
We love our island and our resort. We want you to love it as well! We hope that the following Guidelines & Policies will help every guest have the best experience possible. Please review the policies and contact us if you have any questions.
The Office is open from 9am-6pm. Call 360-293-6643 or e-mail reservations@guemesislandresort.com
Guidelines: So that we may continue to protect and preserve our island environment, we ask that you respect the following guidelines and safety procedures.
Check-in: Check-in is 4:00pm. We ask that you please do not arrive on property prior to 2:00pm in order to allow previous guests adequate time to depart and our staff time to prepare your cabin. We are happy to provide early check-in at 2:00, when available, for an additional fee. You may inquire a few days prior to your arrival to see if early check-in will be available for your accommodation.
Check-out: Check-out is 11:00am. We are happy to provide late check-out at 1:00, when available, for an additional fee. You may inquire during your stay to see if late check-out is available for your accommodation.
Visitors: For the safety, privacy and comfort of all guests, the resort grounds, amenities and all accommodations are open to Registered Overnight Guests Only. All areas of the resort are for the private use and exclusive access of Overnight Accommodation Guests. Visitors are not allowed at any time. Thank you for strictly observing this Guideline.
Dogs: While we love being a dog-friendly property, not all guests are comfortable with dogs being off leash. Dogs must be kept on leash unless well-behaved and continuously supervised. Dogs should be kept at or near your cabin at all times. Please do not allow dogs to run around neighboring accommodations and/or guests. Dogs are an additional $20 per dog/per night.
Quiet hours: Quiet Hours are 9:30pm to 8:30am and must be respected out of courtesy for your neighbors. Please keep music and voices to a low volume during these hours. Due to the close-quarters nature of the cabins, noise travels easily.
After-hours Manager on Duty: When our office is closed, there is a staff member nearby that is on property in case of emergencies, and to see that guidelines are followed. There is a radio mounted just outside the office door. If you have an emergency after hours, click the radio and the MOD will meet you at the office. Guests are asked to please respect any instructions given by the MOD. If guests are not willing to follow the request of the Manager on Duty, they may be asked to leave the property.
Tents and awnings: Personal tents and awnings are not allowed so that all guests may enjoy the beachfront grounds and views. Picnic tables with umbrellas are provided for shade.
Boats / Kayaks / Paddle boards: We are happy to provide aluminum rowboats, sea kayaks and paddle boards free for our guests to use. If you bring a boat that will be moored, please bring a dinghy as well. In order to keep our guests safe and our boats available for use, please adhere to the following: *note: JetSkis are not allowed at any time.
Boats, kayaks and paddle boards are available to check out during our office hours only and should be returned one hour prior to office closing. Please make sure you fill out a waiver for each person (available in the office) before you go out.
When you return from your water adventure, please return all watercraft to their original storage location to prevent them from washing out with the tide. If you need help carrying a watercraft, please let staff know. We are here to help! Leaving boats at (or near) the waterline can cause them to quickly be pulled away or damaged by the tide.
Because all boats are to be shared among all guests, boats cannot be held or reserved by one party all day, nor can they be moored on a buoy or on the beach for one party’s use.
You may bring your own small trolling motor for use on our bigger aluminum boats. Please reserve smaller boats for those guests who prefer to row.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while using resort boats/watercraft.
Lifejackets must be worn at all times (adults and children) when using resort watercraft of any type.
Parking: There is limited parking designated for each cabin. One-bedroom accommodations have one parking space. Two-bedroom accommodations have two spaces. Guemes House has 3 spaces. Salish Houses has 2 parking spaces. Tiny House Almar has one parking space. Overflow parking for additional cars is available on Forest Lane (just up the hill). Before parking your car or trailer anywhere other than the designated parking for your specific cabin, please consult resort staff. Please do not move rocks or logs in order to park. Rocks and logs protect the septic tanks. If you park on or drive over the septic system, you will be held financially responsible for damages. Driftwood: The driftwood that lines the Resort’s beach is a natural part of the ecosystem and works to help preserve the beach. Over the years, driftwood washes to shore and creates both a natural break water and habitat for plants and minerals to grow. Driftwood is part of our natural beach line, and we ask that you help us continue our protection and restoration efforts by honoring the following guidelines:
Please do not burn or build with driftwood
Please do not move driftwood or throw it into the water (floating driftwood can damage boats).
Water: The Island operates on a single-source aquifer, making water usage a major issue for the Resort. Please help us in our water conservation efforts by being mindful of the amount of water you and your party use. While you are welcome to rinse your outboard at the Resort, please spray your boat and trailer in town. We do not offer a laundry facility at the Resort. Fires: The Resort has two fire pits. One is available for communal use and one is by reservation. If there is a Modified Burn Ban in effect, the outdoor fires MUST be completely out by 10:00 pm or you will be charged a $2000 fine. You may bring your own wood to burn or buy it from the Resort during office hours by the wheelbarrow load. Please do not burn beach wood or cabin wood in the fire pit. If there is a Complete Burn Ban in place, NO FIRES are allowed inside the cabins, outside the cabins, in the fire pits, and no charcoal grills. The sauna and Dutch tub will also be closed during Burn Bans. Guests are required to follow the restrictions of Skagit County, Guemes Island, and Guemes Island Resort. If fires are allowed during your stay, quiet hours and safety regulations still apply. *Propane fire pits are not allowed at any time. Fishing and Crabbing: As a fishing/crabbing resort, one of our main priorities is to preserve sea life for future generations and keep the Resort’s crabbing tradition alive for many years to come; therefore, we ask that you follow Fish and Wildlife restrictions for all fishing dates and limits. Poaching will not be tolerated at the Resort. Licenses are available in Anacortes at ACE Hardware and West Marine. If you have any questions about fishing or crabbing, please don’t hesitate to ask the resort staff. For more information regarding fishing/crabbing, go to Washington Fish and Wildlife: wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfishing-regulations/crab (Guemes Island Resort is in Area 7). Additionally, please honor the following crabbing guidelines:
Please do not clean or cook crab in or around the cabins. The Crab Shack provides a crab boiler and cleaning station for your use. Please clean up after yourself for the next guests’ use. If using your own crab cooker, cookers must be set up on the beach rocks and at least 10 feet from any driftwood at all times. Cookers may NOT be used at or near the cabins at any time. You may also use the Crab Shack area for setting up personal cookers.
Return all crab shells, parts and bait back to the sea where you pulled your pots rather than throwing them into the water from the shore (they will wash back in). PLEASE do not dispose of seafood or shellfish bait or scraps in the trash cans.
Label all crab/shrimp buoys with your name, address and phone number.
All crabbers must be licensed and may keep five hard-shelled male crabs that measure at least 6-1/4" during designated crabbing dates only.
No Smoking in any Accommodations: As well as being charged for all additional cleaning fees due to cigarette smoke in the accommodations, there is a $300 fine for smoking in the accommodations. Thank you for your consideration of all guests. Yurts: The yurts are located less than a minute walk from the beach (path located behind Cabin # 1 Vendovi). Parking for yurts is located at each yurt location. Yurts rented with linens will be supplied with sheets, blankets, pillows and comforters for each bed rented as well as bath, wash and hand towels for each person. Shower tokens will be provided for each person based on the number of nights rented. Damage / Fees Policy: Any damage caused to the property should be reported to the Office prior to check-out. Guests are financially responsible for the repair and/or replacement of any breakages, loss or damage to the property. Guests are responsible for lost income due to damages. We reserve the right to charge your credit/debit card for any loss to the Resort. *Please understand that these guidelines have been made to create a safe and fun environment at the Resort. Should you or a member of your party fail to follow these guidelines, you will be held responsible for any damage fees or fines that apply. While it is your responsibility to understand and follow these guidelines, please do not hesitate to contact resort staff with any questions or concerns. Groups: A 10% service fee is added to all groups of 20 or more
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in fines or fees assessed to you and/or your party.
